Library Expansion vs Sports Facility

Your town can either expand the public library or build a new outdoor sports facility. Which project should receive funding?

A strong response plan

  1. 1Make the choice
  2. 2Explain access or community value
  3. 3Give a concrete service example
  4. 4Conclude with long-term usefulness

Sample answer

Study the organization, not the script

I would use the funding to expand the public library. A new sports facility would benefit active residents, but the library can support a much wider range of people regardless of age, income or physical ability. An expanded library could add quiet study areas, computer workstations and rooms for free workshops. These services are especially valuable to students, newcomers and job seekers who may not have reliable internet or a suitable place to work at home. Libraries can also host children's programs and community events throughout the year. Outdoor recreation is important, but existing parks already provide some space for sports. Expanding the library would fill more educational and community needs with one investment.
