Try the question before reading the model

Your workplace is choosing between providing employees with a free transit pass or a free gym membership. Which benefit should the company choose?

Response plan

Choice → reason 1 + consequence → reason 2 + example → conclusion

Original sample answer

I believe the company should provide employees with a free transit pass. Although a gym membership would be useful for some staff members, transportation is an expense that affects employees every working day. First, a transit pass would reduce the monthly cost of commuting. Employees who currently spend a significant amount on buses or trains could use those savings for groceries, rent or other essential expenses. This benefit would therefore have an immediate financial impact. Second, free transit could encourage more employees to leave their cars at home. That would reduce parking demand around the workplace and make commuting easier for staff who do not drive. For example, new employees would not need to purchase a vehicle simply to reach the office reliably. For these reasons, a transit pass would be the more practical and widely useful benefit for the workforce.

What makes a stronger Task 2 response?

CELPIP does not publish a guaranteed formula that turns one response into Level 9. Use the official four Writing dimensions to compare the quality of your own timed responses instead.
