A strong response plan

  1. 1Point to a visible clue
  2. 2Make a likely prediction
  3. 3Explain the consequence
  4. 4Add a second prediction from another clue

Sample answer

Study the organization, not the script

I think the family will begin packing the picnic quite soon because the sky behind them is getting dark and the wind is lifting the edge of the blanket. One parent will probably put the food back into the cooler while the children collect their toys. If rain starts before they reach the car, they may move under the nearby pavilion for shelter. I also expect other families in the park to leave, because several people in the background are already looking toward the clouds. The picnic will probably end earlier than they planned.

What to notice

Base predictions on visible evidence

Use modal language such as may, will probably and likely

Explain why the prediction makes sense
