Practice prompt

Try the question before reading the model

A coworker keeps asking you to cover weekend shifts, but you cannot continue doing it. Explain your decision and suggest a solution.

Response plan

Acknowledge → clear boundary → reason → alternative → respectful close

Original sample answer

I understand that finding weekend coverage has been difficult, and I was happy to help the last few times. However, I cannot continue taking extra weekend shifts because I already have family commitments and need that time to rest after the workweek. I can still help occasionally if you ask me several days in advance, but I cannot be the regular backup person. Maybe we could ask the supervisor to create a rotating coverage list so the responsibility is shared among more employees. I hope you understand that I want to help when I can, but I need to keep my weekends manageable too.

The next step is a fresh response

A sample only helps if the organization transfers to a different topic. Open a fresh MyCELPIP task, answer without looking at the model, then compare your structure and development.
