CELPIP Test Booking 2026: Registration Checklist

By MyCELPIP Editorial Team · Updated September 9, 2026

CELPIP test booking — quick answer: CELPIP recommends registering online through its official system. Choose the correct test version, select a live authorized sitting, verify your personal details and identification information, review the current price at checkout, complete payment, and keep the confirmation email.

CELPIP's current FAQs state that test centres do not process registration applications and there is no walk-in registration. They also say a sitting closes one business day before the test or earlier if capacity is reached. Review the official CELPIP FAQs and Find a Test Date before paying.

Step 1: choose the correct CELPIP version

The most expensive booking mistake is not a typo—it is choosing a test that does not meet your purpose.

CELPIP-General measures Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
CELPIP-General LS measures Listening and Speaking.

For Express Entry, IRCC currently states that candidates using CELPIP must take CELPIP-General. For other purposes, verify the receiving organization's current requirements.

See General vs General LS before booking if you are unsure.

Step 2: use the live official date/location finder

Do not book from a copied calendar or an old map screenshot.

Check:

  • country/city;
  • centre/location;
  • date;
  • start time;
  • test type;
  • remaining availability shown by the official flow.

A centre can be close to home but have no suitable sitting on the date you need.

Step 3: verify your identity details carefully

CELPIP's current FAQs state that the name, date of birth and passport information entered for registration must match the valid, unexpired identification presented on test day. Mismatches can lead to refusal of entry without a refund or transfer.

Before checkout, compare the registration details character by character with the identification you plan to bring.

Step 4: review the current fee at checkout

Do not rely on a blog post as the final authority for price. CELPIP fees can vary by test, country, currency and tax, and official pages can change.

Use the amount shown in the current official checkout. If you are comparing older fee information, see the CELPIP fee guide, but treat the live checkout as the source of truth before payment.

Step 5: complete payment and save confirmation

CELPIP's FAQ says an unpaid registration can remain pending until payment is completed. Successful registration is confirmed by email.

After payment:

  • save the confirmation email;
  • verify test type, date, time and address again;
  • add the sitting to your calendar;
  • save your route/transport plan;
  • review official test-day information.

Step 6: know the closing rule

CELPIP currently states that registration closes:

  • one business day before the sitting, or
  • when maximum capacity is reached,

whichever happens first.

This is not a reason to wait until the final business day. CELPIP recommends registering well in advance because capacity is limited.

Step 7: understand transfer and cancellation rules before you need them

Current CELPIP FAQs use a seven-calendar-day threshold for standard cancellation and transfer rules.

At the time of this review, CELPIP states:

  • cancellation at least seven calendar days before the session can receive a 50% refund of the registration fee;
  • cancellation less than seven days before can be accepted without a refund;
  • a standard transfer to another sitting of the same test type is available at least seven days before the session;
  • the first standard transfer is currently free, with a fee for subsequent transfers;
  • special late-transfer requests may require documentation and are discretionary.

These policies can change. Verify them on the official CELPIP site before cancelling or transferring.

Step 8: plan the test morning

CELPIP's current FAQ instructs test takers to arrive 45 minutes before the scheduled start, and says check-in closes 15 minutes before the start. Late arrival can result in denied entry without refund or transfer.

Your route plan should therefore target the arrival window, not the test start time.

If travel is unpredictable, choose a centre/date that reduces that risk.

  • Arrival plan targets 45 minutes early
  • Identification requirements reviewed
  • Preparation plan scheduled
