- 1
Log in to your IRCC My Account or MYCIC profile.
- 2
Navigate to 'Update my Express Entry profile.'
- 3
Select 'Language test results' and choose CELPIP as the test.
- 4
Enter your candidate ID and test date from your score report.
- 5
IRCC will verify your scores directly with Paragon Testing Enterprises.
- 6
Allow 1–2 business days for verification to complete.
Review and Reconsideration (rescoring)
What is the CELPIP rescoring process called?
It is officially called 'Review and Reconsideration.' You submit a request to have your Writing or Speaking component reviewed by a different senior examiner. Reading and Listening are machine-scored and not eligible for rescoring.
Which components can be rescored?
Only Writing (Task 1 and Task 2) and Speaking (all 8 tasks) can be rescored, because these are human-assessed. Reading and Listening are computer-scored and not subject to human error that rescoring could correct.
How much does rescoring cost?
Approximately $60–$100 per component (Writing or Speaking). Verify the current fee on celpip.ca before submitting. If the rescoring results in a higher score, the fee is refunded.
How long does rescoring take?
Approximately 4–6 weeks from submission to result. This timeline matters significantly if you have an immigration deadline approaching.
How often does rescoring change a score?
Rarely in a meaningful way. CELPIP examiners follow a detailed rubric and results are generally consistent. However, if you have a strong belief that your response was incorrectly assessed — particularly if your score was unexpectedly low — requesting a rescoring is a legitimate option. The risk is the fee and timeline.
Can rescoring lower my score?
Technically, a rescoring review could result in a lower score if the senior examiner finds the original assessment was too generous. In practice this is uncommon, but it is a stated possibility in CELPIP's policies. Consider it carefully before requesting.
When rescoring makes sense — and when it does not
Consider rescoring if: Your Writing or Speaking score is 3+ levels below your other scores with no obvious reason, or if you had a documented technical issue (microphone failure, software error) on test day.
Do not bother if: Your score was low because you ran out of time, skipped a bullet point, or know you underperformed. Rescoring evaluates the response you gave — it cannot improve a genuinely incomplete or weak response.
